Foodie Post: Go Green!

It's been a while since I drank a smoothie, even though I used to have them for breakfast all the time. It's time to reintroduce them and all of their benefits in my daily diet so I'm bringing smoothies back with this post. Click 'read more' to get the recipe, and all of the nutritional info about this super healthy green smoothie!

Ingredients:

1 handful of spinach
1 handful of cilantro
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk*
small handful of blueberries
1 kiwi
1/2 of your favourite sort of apple (I used Jonagold)
1/3 of a small banana
tsp of chia seeds
tbs of lemon juice
tsp of vanilla extract
coconut butter (optional)

Blend it all up, add water if it's too thick and enjoy!

*if you want a sweeter taste I recommend using rice, oat, hazelnut or coconut milk, or whatever other milk you like :)

This smoothie is great as a pre or post workout snack, although this recipe makes a bigger portion to fuel you up if you drink it in the morning. Now, don't even get me started with the benefits!

First of all this glass of green goodness has a lot of spinach, which is crazy healthy for you. It has a lot of potassium (That's why it's great to drink it after working out), fiber, magnesium, zinc, just to name a few. Cilantro cleanses your body of waste and has a lot of antioxidants, as do blueberries. Almond milk and chia seeds supply you with protein and healthy fats, while kiwi and lemon juice add that vitamin C kick. This smoothie is anti-inflammatory, helps strenghten the immune system (flu season is coming!) and gives you the nutrients your body craves :)

Hope you'll like it. Cheers!
